I like to quote or recycle from old books and the Bible. The figure of ”Madness” comes from the 11th century Constantinople’s (present Istambul), the Cathedral of Hagia Sofia (Church or Holy Wisdom), the altar of illustrated Byzantine Gospel (Bibliothèque Laurentian, Codex Plut VI.23). Original illustration depicts Christ driving out demons. For me, this exalted figure is the current symbol of the today’s world madness. On the other side of the work I drew ”Sorrow,” which is essentially equaled with “Madness.” HULLUS / MADNESS. 140 x 300 cm. Acrylic on Kapa-plate. 2015 KURBUS / SADNESS. 140 x 300 cm. Acrylic on Kapa-plate. 2015
